Setting in place
The story takes place in Great Britain, London. It plays on the streets (e.g. the by street, where the real story starts), in the houses of the main characters, but these houses are not very important.
Setting in time
The story plays in 18??, so when the book was written in present time.
Subject
Utterson knoes, feels that there's someting strange in the relation between his friend Dr, Jekyll and the criminal Mr. Hyde. He starts investigating the case.
Theme
The theme is the difference between Good and Evil.
Main characters
Mr. Utterson
He is a laywer and in the first chapter he is described like this: A man of rugged countenance, that was never lighted by a smile; cold, scanty and embarrassed in discourse; backward in sentiment; lean, long, dusty, dreary, and yet somehow lovable. He has some very good friends. He is a man of great delicate, because of his laywer- background. He is not married.
Mr. Richard Enfield
He is a very good friend of Utterson and besides his cousin. They often walk together. They don't talk much together, but they understand each other very well.
Dr. Henry Jekyll
He is also a friend of Utterson's. His will says that Mr. Hyde is his only heir. (Utterson knows this, because he is the laywer). He is a good man and, just like the previous men a man of rank.
Mr. Hyde
He is a very bad person. Later on, he turns out to be the same person as Dr. Jekyll.
Secondary characters
Poole
He's Jekyll's butler. When Jekyll locks himself up, Poole is the one who warns Utterson.

No special characteritics.
Personal opinion
I found it a nice book with a good story. But it was hard to read, they use long-winded wordings and difficult words.
It was nice to read the progress of Utterson's investigation.
